Dwarf hamsters are, as you might have guessed, the smaller type of hamster. Unlike Syrian hamsters, dwarf hamsters can normally live in groups of two or more of their kind. Most dwarf hamsters have a stripe going down their back.

There are four different types of dwarf hamsters kept as pets, two of which are Russian: the Campbell’s Russian hamster and the Siberian hamster. The other two types of dwarf hamster are the Roborovskii hamster and the Chinese hamster.
